So I decided to try reupholstering furniture.  I had a great little mid-century modern foot-stool that was ripe for a new look.  I forgot to take a "before" shot, but lets say there was green pleather and duct tape involved.  I had a great Ikea fabric that needed a home and voila -
I really like it a lot.
It's for sale too, check out my Etsy account.

Here is an infinity scarf I knitted.  I'm new to knitting so my work is simple, but I love it.

This is a recent purse I made.   I love the fabrics.

And here is my family on a recent trip to the Pumpkin Patch.
This is before we got rained on and totally soaked!  It was such a fun day!

Fall is such a nice time of the year, I am beginning to settle in for winter, but I also get a surge of energy.  I am most productive in the fall.

Making Stuff

I am in a make it's a sample of what I have been making,

A knitted scarf.  I pressed it after and love the flat look.

 Lemon water to keep hydrated.

Limeaid.  Yummy

Here are some inspirational batik fabrics.

And here is a shot of Bodhi loving his morning yogurt.

What are you making?

We're back!

We were off to the Outer Banks North Carolina for the last week of August.  What a trip!  It took 2 days to get there in the car.  Fortunately I have a friend about halfway there, so we stayed with her....and she and her husband came along on vacation too!  All together there were 3 families totaling 13 people.  It was a great time and I hope we all travel together again next summer!

On the ride down we went over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel.

The ocean was beautiful, but I took more pictures of the sand fences.  Not sure why they captured my eye, maybe it's the symmetry.

My kids - Erik, Ellen and Bodhi.  Bodhi seems a little camera shy in this shot.

And a beautiful OBX sunrise.  I have a lot of great shots, but this is my favorite.

And here I am with my friend Jess.  I'm a redhead so no sun for me.

School starts tomorrow.  I am sad to see summer go, but glad to be home and getting into a routine.  I think it's going to be a great fall!

Auction Success!

Saturday's Auction was a huge success!  Jeff was happy and his clients were happy because practically everything sold.
Here's Jeff auctioning off a drill press.

And Bodhi, taking a break from the action.

Bodhi again.  He fell asleep in the backpack.  It was a tiring day.
The auction started at 10am and and didn't finish until 7:30!

And here is the best part of all... I got a serger!
It was a great price and had never been used!
I also got a bin full of zippers and old buttons, plus a box full of patterns.  I can't believe the stuff you can buy at an action and the great prices.
This is from earlier on Saturday.  My daughter went to a concert in Montreal on Friday night, so I had to pick her up Saturday morning before the auction.  Little did I know that we'd have to wait in line at the border for ONE HOUR!  We made the best of it by listening to music, acting goofy, and taking funny pictures.

This weekend

My husband comes from a line of auctioneers... his dad and grandfather were both auctioneers.  So naturally he is one too.  (And I bet he's hoping Bodhi will carry on the legacy!)  I, on the other hand, had never been to an auction until last summer.  And now they seem like just another part of normal life.

Jeff has an auction tomorrow.  He has spent a lot of time preparing for it this week.  There are tons of items that need to be sold. I am hoping for good weather and a large crowd!

Here's Jeff calling at an auction last fall.  There were a lot of tools at that one and I have no idea what he's holding or selling.

This is a picture of me clerking.  The clerk has to write down the items that are being sold, the winning bidder, and the price.  It is a really busy job and you have to play close attention to what's going on because everything happens really fast.  You also need to have reasonably good penmanship....I try.
He really gets into it!

He has a great personality for this business.  He likes to be in front of the crowd, unlike me who is more of a behind the scenes support person.  It's a good balance!

So much has happened since I last posted almost 2 years ago....

Here's the highlights from the condensed version.....

I got married.
I had a baby.
My daughter turned 16 and got her learner's permit.
My son turned 18.

This is my beloved husband Jeff and I last summer.  Our wedding was held in our backyard and was perfect.  I am very fortunate to have found such a wonderful man to share my life with.

This is Jeff right after our son, Bodhi John, was born.  Such a happy and proud dad!

I have been fortunate to be able to stay home and be just a mom since the beginning of this year.  It's been a busy time of consolidating two households, taking care of a newborn (something I hadn't done in 16 years), teaching my daughter to drive, and hanging out with my son.  After working outside the home for over 10 years, I love being able to focus solely on my family.

I see a theme.....

And that's what I am up to tonight.
